Environment protection policyIn todays world, part of the basic prerequisite of responsible company management - in addition to providing a safe workplace and increasing production - is to support the protection of the environment and, in so doing, taking care that the associated "responsibility for the future" plays a particularly important role as an independent company goal. With consciousness of this responsibility, the management of Hellmann Worldwide Logistiks has decided to place special value on operational environment protection and to consider the tasks, which derive from this decision, according to company concepts.
The companys environment protection policy, which is expressed in the environment guidelines, is oriented toward the following specified active principles:
1. It is the goal of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics to work towards active, comprehensive and innovative environmental protection, and in so doing, giving top priority to the principle of continually improving operational environment protection. The basis for this decision is the assumption that environmental protection and profitability are not exclusive of each other but instead are mutually dependent on and complementary to each other.
2. Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is committed to providing a range of services that is within the environmental laws and regulations, which we consider to be minimum requirements. If necessary customer specific as well as other requirements will be considered beyond legal minimum requirements.
3. In consideration of environmental aspects, we are concerned with avoiding the environmental damage that results from the various activities of our company before it happens, if possible. At the least we ensure that environmental damage that is unavoidable is reduced to a minimum. Through ongoing research and development, ecologically meaningful innovations are being worked towards and implemented.
4. Preventing and reducing waste have absolute priority over recycling or disposing of it. Using environmentally friendly and eco-friendly products and procedures is both an active and voluntary contribution of the companys responsibility and obligation to environment protection.
5. In order that the measures in the area of company environment protection can be implemented and realized, the company management of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is obligated to make the materials required for these measures available. Furthermore, it is the companys goal that employees be personally involved in the measures of the companys environment protection program and to further train the employees through internal and external training.
6. The introduction and advancement of the companys environment protection measures require intensive and comprehensive communication among the executive officers, management, employees and the public. The general management, the department for quality and environmental management and the "environment protection" workgroups are therefore looking to hold discussions with all employees and member of the public who are interested. External service providers and suppliers will be systematically informed about our environmental management system at each location. Our system is communicated to everybody working for or on behalf of the organization and is avaliable to the public. This occurs through publication of planned or implemented measures and through public events.
7. In order to carry out the principles embodied in the environmental guidelines, the company has set up an environmental management system for implementing the companys principles regarding environment protection policy.
8. Due to the particular importance of the responsibilities and measures in the area of company environment protection and due to the significance of the environmental management system for the entire company, the environmental management system has been integrated into the companys quality management.
With the conception and introduction of the environmental management system according to DIN ISO 14001, we can now ensure that all company departments will consider environmentally relevant aspects. General questions are answered by our homepage or our press offices in many countries.
