History

1871

Carl Heinrich begins a one-man business in Osnabrueck, Germany, deliverying parcels with a horse-drawn cart.

1935

The company begins consolidating cargo.

1945

Successors Heinz Hellmann and Emil Hellmann begin rebuilding the company following World War II.

1959

Joachim Hellmann founds the first forwarders alliance in Germany.

1981

With the opening of its Hong Kong branch, the company begins to build a worldwide network.

1988

Hellmann establishes a wholly owned USA subsidiary, Hellmann International Forwarders.

1992

Hellmanns partner network expands into Eastern Europe.

1998

The company launches a new service, Hellmann Perishable Logistics (HPL).

1999

The company name changes from Hellmann Brothers to Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. All USA offices adopt the new name.

2003

Hellmanns annual revenues now exeed US$2.4 billion and the company maintains 341 offices around the globe. Klaus and Jost Hellmann are the fourth generation of Hellmann to run the company.

2004

Opening of the new warehouse in Shanghai with 6,000 square meters storage area and more than 2,000 square meters of office space.

2005

Hellmann starts the joint-venture in Chile with the company Alfinco S.A., an important provider of perishable logistics services.

2006

Opening of the new Head office of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Inc in Tokyo and establishment of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics in Kuwait. Hellmann wins the Award "Global Logistics Provider (LSP) of the year 2006/2007.

2007

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics opens offices in India and Pakistan. In August the European Logistics Center (ELC) for the spare parts distribution of the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG was put into operation in Munich.

2008

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has established a network globally of 341 offices worldwide, of which 60% are owned and 40% and agent operated. Hellmann USA has established a strong network of its own consisting of 24 offices across the country.

2008

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Inc. celebrates the announcement that WestPoint Home has contracted with hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Inc. to assume the distribution of its products worldwide. The facility in Wagram, North Carolina, will become Hellmanns largest distribution facility in the United States.
